Last Update: Young Animal Protection Society Inc. is a non profit organization that cares for Homeless and Unwanted Dogs and Cats. Animals come to Yaps from various avenues .. animals found wandering the streets .. often abandoned and abused are picked up by the Cairns City Council Animal Control Officers or the General Public .. in some cases it can be some ones life style or personal circumstances have changed and they can no longer keep their pets .. so they voluntary surrender them in to Y.A.P.S care. The overall goal of the organization is to provide a service aiming at excellence to the Cairns and surrounding district in the area of animal welfare. Yaps is run by a Volunteer Management Committee .. 2 full time staff .. 6 part time staff .. including our caretaker Lucy and Paul who live on Yaps premises. A Day with YAPS Staff These are the PEOPLE and ANIMALS who make YAPS work! Firstly   YAPS Security The YAPS animals are protected by Buzz Off Security .. we all sleep well at night knowing Paul is patrolling YAPS grounds with such a protective aggressive force .. Paul is captured here on the job. Nothing gets past Paul from Buzz Off Security! Next   Sultan the Guard Dog Along side Paul from Buzz Off Security is Sultan .. a frightening over powering protector .. this beast never sleeps .. is always on the job sacrificing every day comforts just so he can protect his fellow mates at Yaps Animal Refuge .. Sutlan is pictured here on the job. These 2 boys are a force not to be recon with. Katherine and Ke Ke Yes Katherine I know you want me to move so you can feed those canines but I am here first so I am the priority!!! FEED ME NOW!!! Bully Ok all of you guys on board..I am going to sleep here just hangin around waiting on you guys to get your act together. Comon get with it, time for the "the vet check" and don't we all know what that means.. but rest assured I have now got my drivers licence and "trust me" I will get you there safely.. I mean like your other choice of a driver is Dorothy so like right "no choice" " I am the MAN" Pushkin is also a member of Yaps Staff. All dogs beware as I am an attack cat on patrol and all should fear me.
