Remmy (Jade)
Hey everyone at YAPS!
Hey Guys I would like to let you know that Jade who I adopted a from YAPS about 4 weeks ago April 2009 and I have now re-named Remmy is doing very well .. she is eating well and I even think she has put on weight.
Renny is very playful and peaceful at times .. keep up the good work out there and here is a little something from Remmy .. and I would like to put this story in as an update and do one later on in the year as well.
told by Remmy
I was adopted about a month ago now .. I love my new home and my new daddy loves to play games and teach me new things ..so far I have learnt to sit .. stay at the back door and not run inside the house and I love to play fetch as well!
As you can see I love to sleep (and chew) on the couch .. sometimes we play a game of chase around the backyard and I am very fast at catching everyone .. I would like to thank everyone at YAPS for taking care of me and I hope you like my photos! (I’m a bit of a poser)
Cheers

Sammy and Pepper (Jodi)
Hi YAPS Staff
We are very pleased to tell you that Sammy has settled in very well .. Pepper (Jodi also a Yaps Dog) played all evening .. they are well-matched .. similar size and temperament .. Sammy responds well to us and was off the lead for a short time on our walk.
Thank you for the love and care you give each dog and the way you do your best to have them ready for homing.

Frank (Badger)
Hi All at YAPS
|
Badger is our cat we adopted from Yaps in April of 2007 .. when we picked him up he was described as a domestic short hair .. from the
photos you will see he is not quite a short hair .. rather a fluffy long haired.
Badger was renamed Frank and quickly became one of the family .. he quickly fitted in with our female cat and is now getting used to the new kitten who has been introduced to the family that we saved from the recent floods.
Frank is a large cat now (weighing in at over 7.5kgs) and loves eating freshly caught reef fish .. Frank has become very much a house cat and his favourite sleeping position is often literally spread eagle in the
middle of the lounge room .. Frank is a loving boy and certainly part of the family.
Until next time and good luck with all the animals.

Chugg (Scout)
G'day everyone What a little champion!!!
|
Just thought I would let you know that the puppy formally known as Scout that we adopted from Yaps in February 2009 is now going by the much more blokey name of CHUGG .. he has settled in pretty well last night .. no damage .. not too much sooking but a whole lot of loving.
Even though he only left you yesterday .. here is a couple of photos to keep you going until the next update .. thanks a bunch for holding onto him for the extra week for us it really helped us out and everyone at home is ecstatic with the newest family member .. by the way .. he has a bed for his mattress but it is a bit tall for him at the moment.
Regards
Pete

Reggie
Hello Carol
I am sending you some photos of Reggie .. he is doing very well .. he is a very happy dog .. he gets lots of attention .. hugs and pats and Reggie sits for us .. he also he is starting to shake his paw .. we all love him to bits .. he thinks he is a inside dog and tries his best on getting in and when he comes in he hates going back outside .. Reggie gives us plenty of joy and he hates having a bath .. and if he sees water he will walk around it so he does not get wet .. I hope you all are doing well up there and I am eternally grateful I read the Cairns Post otherwise we would never of known you existed.
Many thanks
Helen

Millie
Dear wonderful people at YAPS
Mille is our beautiful Staffy X we adopted on 23rd January 2009 .. Millie is very happy and has her tail up wagging all the time .. she is definitely not as timid as she was when we first got her.
When we are walking on a lead we no longer are doing the crawl .. she is doing well at dog obedience .. we think Millie is more Ridgeback than Staffy.
Millie is using the doggie door and 100% toilet trained now .. she has not run away as yet and not chewing too much .. just 1 mat so far and that is it!
Craig and I absolutely love her we are taking her for 2 walks a day like you said .. yhank you so much for introducing us we are a very happy family.
Thank You
Nadine and Craig

Rusty (Unison)
Hi everyone at Yaps
Just thought we would let you know how Rusty is going (known at YAPS as Unison) .. he is a great dog and has settled in at our house really well .. his mate in the photo's is our older dog Kane and they get on like brothers .. they love playing together.
Rusty has gained some weight and muscle tone from his hour walk every day .. he looks great .. we spent Christmas at Kurrimine Beach in a holiday house on the beach and Rusty went fishing in our boat .. we all had a great time and he just loves the beach.
So far we have taught him the hand sign to sit .. come .. walk and food/dinner time and he knows the naughty finger .. he is very smart and is such a loving boy.
We will keep you posted along the way .. you might see him walking along Reed Road with Kane and Jody around 7.00am to 8.00am every morning .. so stop and say Hi!
Luv
Jody.. Alan .. Kane and Rusty

Axel (Harry)
Hi to Everyone @ Yaps!
Just a quick email to update you all on Harrys progress (know now as Axel) .. you may remember he was in the litter that were born on the 6th August 2008 .. Andrew and I picked him up on the 18th of October 2008 .. he settled in pretty much straight away .. he has a big brother Tipsy the longhaired Chihuahua pictured with him and the pic of them together was taken on Christmas Day 2008 when they were sharing their prezzies.
The latest photo I have attached was taken at my Mum and Dads place with Axels friend Kialee (Border Collie) .. as you can see Axel is nearly bigger than her already and she is 3 years old .. Tipsy .. Axel .. Andrew and I often go for walks twice a day to the dog park and apparently we look quite funny .. Axel is a pretty good boy so far and we go back to puppy school in February 2009.
We hope all the other pups in the litter got good homes like Axel has and Thanks You all for doing such a wonderful job at YAPS.
Take Care

Choko
Yeah! Hi to all at YAPS!
It's me .. Choko here! Bet you never thought you would hear from me again .. it has been 2 years since I was adopted and I thought it was time I got in touch .. so much has happened .. where do I start .. I have been having heaps of fun .. I love chasing lizards .. at.. tacking any moving water .. chasing flies (oops, whacked my head again) chasing lizards .. sleeping .. eating chasing lizards .. and getting heaps of cuddles.
I hate the fence (boy, does that hurt!!) .. having the hose turned off .. people finishing their food without sharing and being on my own .. I get laughed at a lot .. but didn't I pass the smart test Dorothy? (yeah, right) .. I am not much of a watchdog either .. in fact I am hard pressed waking up .. Lucky I look the part and not many people will mess with something 50kg .. I have got a bit bigger and have more muscles since I have been outside.
I know my saving grace is I don't give a rats about much (except lizards) .. they have heaps of things around here I know lots of dogs could get excited about .. horses .. cows .. chooks .. geese .. and boy are they noisy .. they wake me up and try to swim in my water dish .. motorbikes .. big kids .. little teeny kids (they always have food .. and a cranky old cat (now they're really smart!) .. but all I care about is lizards .. I get into trouble for chasing them .. I smash everything trying to catch them .. but it is not my fault my feet are soooo big .. I am getting the hang of waiting for them to come out .. but sometimes that can take hours which is a good excuse for a sleep.
Sorry about the photos .. apparently it is really hard to fit my fat head in without me looking stupid (really?) .. so when there ars some better ones .. maybe action shots might come next (you'll be waiting a while) .. I will be in touch again.
Love
Choko

Ajax
Hello YAPS Staff
This is a big hello from Ajax and his new family .. we just wanted to let you know how well Ajax has done settling in to his new home .. even though he was very shy the first day we brought him home .. he has now started to accept us as his new family and now after two weeks he is quite ecstatic to greet us .. even if we only been gone half an hour .. he enjoys a good meal twice a day .. his dad is the best cook in Ajax’s opinion .. as well as many treats including a pig trotter he got on his first night here which he has just recently dug back up .. being lazy and lying down under the table on the patio so that everyone has to move their feet.
Ajax also never misses a chance to follow us around the back yard like a shadow and is now extremely keen to play .. he also loves being cheeky and often at night likes to steal things and leave them out on the lawn which have so far included gardening gloves .. the BBQ spatula and shoes but only his dads .. he has also recently enjoyed his first walk and got to show all the neighbourhood cats who is boss .. I just want to thank you for taking such good care of our boy for so long and want to let you know that he has finely found a family that loves him to bits.
Attached a couple of photos for you of Ajax in his new home
Love from Ajax and his new family

Update on your Pet Hello to all the great staff at YAPS!
written by Fiji
Sorry I have not been in touch earlier but I have definitely been busy withmy new family at Mount Sheridan .. when I first got home I got very sick and Mum and Dad took me to the vets for a couple of nights to get better .. I made a full recovery after some tender loving care from my family .. now my favourite past time is digging holes in the backyard .. my Dad fills them in and then I dig them up all over again .. its great .. I have taught my brother how to to dig too so we can do it together .. I love my brother we get along like a house on fire .. my sister and I took a little bit to become friends because I like to play chasies with her .. but now we have come to an understanding and are good friends .. I think my real Mum or Dad was a greyhound because I definitely look and run like one .. well I hope all is well at YAPS and I want to thank you for introducing me to my family xo .. me mum wrote a message on the YAPS guestbook for me too .. so now everyone knows I am doing GREAT!!

Jessie (Jacki) and Jasper
Hi to the people from YAPS
We are the ones that adopted Jacki (dog) and Jasper (cat) .. however we have re-named Jacki and called her Jessie .. close match but she responds to it.
We absolutely love them and both are settling with the other animals except for Mr Boots (our Black Cat) who is still unhappy about the new additions.
Jasper gives us so many laughs .. he is very loving .. energetic and talk about eat .. he is definitely not a fussy feeder .. I notice his whiska’s on one side of his face have been cut off .. we have attached you some photos so you can see how they are settling in .. I hope you like them and thanks from all of us.
Cheers
Morrie and Sheryl
