Darcy
Hi to all my friends at YAPS
Well I have been with my new family for 3 months now and I just love them so much.
I have a friend called Sasha she is a 6 years old female cat .. although we have had a few fights but not too scary cause I am sooo tough.
It has taken a while for us to get used to each other we are now getting on better and I know soon we will be just cuddling up with each other all the time.
Jane and Ian are my two human friends .. they let me sleep on the bed (I just love that) and we all have cuddles together.
Sasha and I have a lovely house with a Cat Max Caboodle and we get to go for walks on our leads together in our garden.
Cuddling is definitely one of my most favourite things in the world .. I have a toy box which I love getting into and dragging toys out of.
I have a lot of favourite toys but I guess my favourites are the practice golf balls which bounce around a lot and I can carry from room to room .. I also have a fun toy Jane made for me out of plastic drinking straws.
Sasha and I also have a great scratching post .. I have attached a picture of us on it .. I am the good looking ginger and white one .. I have also attached a picture of me hard at work on one of our deck chairs.
For lunch every day Sasha and I are treated to a wonderful tuna banquet (YUM) .. I am still eating my special kitten biscuits and I have put on a lot of weight which is good as I was such a scrawny little fellow when I first met Jane and Ian.
Well bye for now
Lots of love from Darcy
Ella
To all at Y.A.P.S
Hi! We adopted Ella our Lhaso Aspo X from Y.A.P.S in 2009 from your Smithfield Animal Shelter.
At first she was really timid and scared but now Ella is a member of our family.
Ella is very spoilt and has a ton of toys and she is still as cute as she was when we got her.
She loves rough play and she absolutely loves the beach and also chases sticks and likes to sit in streams.
She likes to sleep on Hannah’s (my daughter) bed .. there is a couch we have that she always sleeps on and she also has her own cute and comfy bed.
Ella only becomes friends with a few dogs and she loves to be close to the family and of cause everybody in the family absolutely adores and loves her!

Lolly
Lolly's Story
I have attached lots of pictures Lolly explains .. most are of me .. one is especially cute of me showing you me with my ears sticking straight up in the air on the alert and 2 others are of me with my brother Zachary.
Zachary was a RSPCA boy and has been at the house for nearly 14 years .. he is your typical alpha male so if he wants the toy I go along with it .. that's just my nature-peace .. love and mungbeans.
I have just found out I love cardboard boxes .. big ones and little ones .. I love em all to death and then for some reason my family put it in the big green bin using what they call a brush and shovel.
I love going for walks too however I like to hold a part of the lead in my mouth and so then it looks like I am taking the human for a walk instead.
I am still trying to work out my other breed .. I know I am part shepherd .. I look at other dogs and I feel quite unique .. the main thing is I am loved by all and sometimes they call me lollypop .. I kinda like the sound of that.
Update January 2010 Love from Lolly
written by Yaps
LOLLY came to YAPS in a very sad state .. we were told even after vet treatment Lolly may not make it .. it was really up to her and her will to fight and live.
When we rescue a pet that has reached this state usually their spirit is broken and really the only thing that can rebuild that spirit is to give them the will to live .. and only Love and Tender Care can do that job.
Not a problem at YAPS though .. usually what happens in these cases a staff member or a foster carer take them home to show them what love is as most have never had any love at all.
Looking after one of these sick babies is extremely hard work .. it is 24-7 on demand .. you would have to be dedicated or you just could not do it.
In Lollys case it was Lynne who is one of our staff .. she had many sleepless nights .. there were tears and joy attached to fostering this sick baby .. Lynne experienced both but our little Lolly did pulled through.
The joy of seeing your foster child going home with the best family is the most rewarding moment of your life and Lolly was no different .. all of Yaps were beside themselves when Lolly left .. what a satisfying sight.
Thank You Lynne
Rosie
Hi everyone at YAPS
We wanted to give you an update of ROSIE since it has been over 12 months since we adopted her .. it is already January 2010.
You will remember Rosie was quite a skinny little thing .. having survived some unpleasant events in her very early life.
She is now so much one of the family .. full of fun and loves going for splashes in the creek.
Rosie is very affectionate and loving and very protective of her home and family.
Thank you so much YAPS for Rosie David and Barbara

Brodie
Hello Staff at YAPS
Happy New Year 2010 .. I just wanted to wish you all the best for the new year and say thank you for the wonderful gift of Brodie who seems to have adopted a new nickname Hey Buster.
He is always mat surfing across my tiles or re-arranging the Xmas tree decorations .. I obviously did not get them just right.
I thought you would like to know he is well and happy in his new home with me .. all the best for 2010.
Happy New Year
Vita Scalia
Gaby (Raffles)
X'mas greeting from Raffle
Dear Aunties and Uncles
How are you? Do you remember me .. a 6 month-old ginger kitten called Raffles adopted in July 2009 .. I have a new name now .. Gaby .. sharing the name with the Angel Gabriel .. I also get a ID Card from the city council for my registration. (see file).
Mum said that family education does not just apply to children but also to pets .. she found out that we share some similarities in personality and behavior:
1) We have very odd sleeping posture (see photo)
2) I am abnormally self-disciplined .. we sit together on the couch while Mum is having meals .. I do not even look at her food .. I only eat my own cat food in my cat bowl .. I also go to bed SHARP at 9:30pm!!
3) I love veges .. a lot of grass .. also pomelo and grapes (just once for curiosity)!!!
4) I have strong sense of responsibility and accountability .. I respond quickly to you .. I will not go out at night even when the door is open.
If no one is around I will guard the house and will not go far away .. if you call me .. I show up quickly in front of you even when I am asleep (better than a maid!!!) .. I just show with a sleepy/drowsy facial expression.
5) Hardworking: I go 3 streets away to find a geko and bring it back home EVERYDAY.
6) Multi-tasking: I will press my geko (usually a dead one) to secure its position in the house.
If I feel tired I will move a plastic stool and use its leg to step onto the geko to secure its position .. then I go for an afternoon nap.
Thank you for rescuing me Take care Gaby (Raffles)
Cinco (Rocky)
Thanks to Everyone at YAPS
Our beloved baby girl Holly passed away October 2009 .. her companion Walker was so depressed without her and we had seen that Rocky had been at YAPS since August 2009.
We were all heartbroken with the lose of our Holly and our world was really sad but Walker really need another greyhound his life so off to YAPS for an introduction.
Well here we are a month later and we certainly could not have asked for a better buddy for our sweet old greyhound Walker.
Rocky has adjusted well to his new home if one could not figure it out from the pictures.
The word Cinco in Spanish means 5 and Rocky is the 5th greyhound that we have adopted .. very appropriate don't you think!!!
Walker being much older and an experienced x-racer is now just a real spoiled dog who was in charge of showing Cinco how to be a beloved family member of the Farley household.
Cinco has learned to be excited about his twice daily walks and daily car ride.
He enjoys playing and chasing his squeeky toys and really just being a lazy couch potato.
As you can see from the photo .. this really is all they do 95% of the day.
Thanks again YAPS for taking in this sweet loving boy .. he is amazing and has brought joy and laughter back into our home and lives.
Kris .. Terry .. Walker and Cinco
Jett
Hi Carol
Jett is going fantastic .. he has from day one acted like he has been with us all his life.
But talk about a sook I have never heard a Rottie cry like he does when he can not be near us but it is very sweet.
One day I will have to bring him in to say hello as he loves his car rides .. I have attached some pics of Jett taken on the weekend.
