Molly
Dear Carol
Carol said This is the dog for you! .. she handed me a photo of the cutest looking puppy just six weeks old with a camera jammed in her face .. with steely but weakening resolve I replied No I am just here to make a Donation.
I have an older Assistance Dog called Rosie .. we have been together for nearly ten years .. she works to look after me every day and some how the thought of replacing her with another dog .. no I could not .. it seemed like a betrayal.
I lay awake all night .. at 6am I became worried that some one else might take her .. bright and early Rosie and I returned to Yaps .. the first time I saw molly she was upside down .. her tummy the size of a basket ball and one eye half open watching .. I fell in love.
In the car on the way home Molly’s tummy exploded into a three foot poo on the back
seat .. this event profoundly deepened Rosie’s sense of unease.
It took several days before Rosie would even look at the puppy .. she would get up and go any where else .. Molly was so endearing and incredibly persistent .. following Rosie like her shadow.
It was a thing of beauty when they started to play puppy games .. I took a deep breath and poured a glass of wine and watched.
Rosie showed her the soccer ball .. the dig spot .. hide and seek games .. what to
chew and what not to chew .. how to swim and were to find the best sniffy smells.
They have become best friends .. for Molly to become a fully accredited Assistance
Dog just like Rosie she has to pass a temperament Test.
Then Molly starts training for a year or more to pass an examination called The Public Access test .. Assistance, Guide and Hearing Dogs like Police Dogs all have to pass this test and it’s a toughie!
Molly also has to learn voice commands .. hand signals and a range of over fifty tasks to help me .. Rosie and I love our Molly .. Molly pictured in her Jacket on her very first training day with Asdogs
Thank you to Carol and the team at YAPS .. Molly is a fantastic little dog who is showing great
potential and will be an excellent Assistance Dog.
Thank you to the Yaps team again.
My very best regards Sue
The headquarter and training facilities of ASDOGS North Queensland are situated in Mareeba .. another incredibly hard working team who welcome enquiries.

Max and Kola
Hi Dorothy
Last year we adopted Kola (2009) and a few weeks ago we adopted Max (2010) .. I thought you would like to see how well they are getting along.
Max’s infection has cleared up and his coat is glossy and he is jumping around like a puppy.
Kind regards
Julie

Scoobie
Hi Dorothy
What a beautiful animal Scoobie is.
He was quite stressed for a few hours after we picked him up but settled in the evening.
He loves his food and presents himself in the kitchen when he thinks there is a food preparation task happening.
Funnily, he doesn’t seem to want to sleep in his basket or sleep on a carpeted area, choosing instead the cold tiled areas of the house. Maybe this is something he is responding to in his past training – not allowed on the carpet, no basket – something like that – who knows.
He is sitting at my feet at the moment, having had his evening meal. The other dogs are still a little “cold” towards him but I feel, it will be for a short while only.
We will look after this gorgeous boy.
All the best Ellen and Colin

UPDATE
Just a quick update on Scoobie after being with us for 4 weeks.
We had his coat trimmed a little at the beginning.
He’s gorgeous.
He seems to have settled well here and has totally integrated with the other two dogs, especially Moy, pictured with him.
He loves his food and loves strolling in the garden .. we love him dearly & this is a place where he can be at peace.
I feel he is still missing his past life .. hopefully he will settle with us more and more.

Rufus
Hello Dorothy and everyone at YAPS,
We would like to let you know how Rufus has become a member of our little family. Our lives have changed since we got him in March 2010 -
we love him so much. He's a happy and energetic dog now and has pretty
much taken over the house - he snuggles with us on the bed, on the couch
etc.
Trips to the beach have become a favourite and looking out the
window in the car is fun. I have attached some photos of his
adventures. We are considering getting him a play pal soon as he loves
to play with other younger dogs, so we might see you at YAPS again soon!
Thank you for all your hard work!
Love Eva and Adam

Axel (Gus)
Hi YAPS
We adopted Gus yesterday and just thought we would send through a couple of photo's to show how well he has settled in. He is loving his new brother Mugsy (who we adopted from you guys in Nov/Dec 08), so I have attached a photo of him as well. We have changed his name to Axel and he has his own name tag already. We will definately send through more photo's as he gets bigger. We love him to bits already.
Thank You
Catherine and Drew

Doesn’t Trinity look happy and so at ease in his new family?
Thank you YAPS,

Bob AKA Scruffy
Dear Ladies
Well I've been here for three days now and I am having a great time.
I have lots of walks, sometimes on my lead and other times when there aren't any other dogs around they let me off and I run around in huge circles and then I swim in the lake in front of the house.
The mother (Denise) took me to obedience on Wednesday and I created havoc when there were big dogs around but I don't mind the little ones. She was wondering if we would be able to go back next week after all the carry on but they said I can so it looks like we will be going again.
It seems they really like me and I don't do all those things everyone said about me. I am a dainty eater, I don't yap and ok I am a bit boisterous but they don't seem to mind except when I climbed on the dining room table they made me get off and I am not allowed in bed with them but apart from that all is going very well.
They call me Bob because they don't think I am at all scruffy
Love to you all Bob

Candy (Brandy)
Good afternoon Carol and Yaps team!
We thought we would send a little update about Brandy who we adopted only 3 days ago [2nd May 2010] and attach some happy snaps of her early days with us.
We decided to rename Brandy to Candy just so she could have a lovely new beginning and a new name to go with it .. her new collar is candy coloured and she looks just lovely.
As you all know Candy was very frightened around people due to her unfortunate experiences with them and was petrified at our place when we first brought her home .. after 3 days of spending time with her .. telling her what a good girl she is .. taking her for long walks twice a day and giving her lots of love.
Candy is following us around .. lies at our feet .. essentially .. she lies wherever we are .. giving us lots of kisses .. plays with her toys and Rudy (our staffy) and Candy are getting on just fine.
Whilst she is still guarded .. Candy has already come such a long way in such a short time .. so we can only imagine just how happy and confident she will be within a few months .. she is a little sweetheart and we know we will help her restore her faith in people.
Thank you YAPS team .. we will bring Candy back to say hello once she has become a little more settled .. have a lovely day and thank you for doing such a wonderful job with the animals who are lucky enough to be cared for by YAPS.
Best Regards
Heidi and Chris Collins
