The Queensland Government Gambling Community Bennefit Fund .. has provided $25,618.00 to the Young Animal Protection Society Inc. for the purchase of a new air-conditioned van .. the new van is a great asset to YAPS .. it is used daily to transport animals to and from the vets and to pick up necessary supplies used in the daily running of the refuge.Thank you for your support Cassie and Jane visit YAPS each year since they have been together with a very generous donation to help other pets that are at YAPS waiting to find love and security with the right family .. just like Cassie did .. that beautiful smile on Cassie's face says it all .. A Huge Thank You Jane from all of us here at YAPS. The Gambling Community Bennefit Fund .. has provided funding to YAPS to apply heat resistant paint to the roof of 5 kennels. This has made an enormous difference to the temperature inside these kennels thus improving the quality of life for the abondoned animals that are housed in these kennels as well as for the staff and volunteers working in these areas.. Thank you for your support Year 10B SOSE [Studies of Society and Environment] Class .. this class divide into groups and formed a business project .. any profits were to be donated to a chosen charity .. the girls had to choose a local charity .. they picked YAPS because of their love of animals .. they sold smencils .. scented pencil and badges .. also held a raffle of a hamper .. the group rang YAPS the week before the presentation at their final assembly for the year .. the school was very pleased to have Mako the Greyhound to represent Yaps and her personal assistant Michelle came to the assembly for the presentation .. thanks to Josephine DeCosta and the wonderful groups that made this all happen. No Presents! the Biggest Sacrifice Imaginable This happy couple are Phil and Ali .. these guys got married on Saturday 7th October 2006 .. instead of wedding presents .. these wonderful people put YAPS donation boxes on their wedding tables and collected money for Yaps to help us save more animals. Red Forest Peak Estate Ladies held a Xmas party to raise money to purchase Animal Weighing Scales for YAPS .. these new scales were needed desperately .. as monitoring the improvement of abused and neglected animals by checking their weight regularly is a necessary part of their recovery .. Well Done Girls!! Sabre and her 4 puppies were a sad example of the great need for the Weighing Scales. Nay and Coastie are HUGE supporters of Yaps Animal Refuge .. these great guys work behind the scenes .. often a call from Yaps Staff spark off a much needed call to the public .. some times it is for food or the need for a foster family .. but more often it is about a special animal that needs a special family .. these wonderful people send out the alarm and in no time the animal is rehomed or the food bins are full. I wanted to help animals because they cannot help themselves .. they offer us so much unconditional love .. I wanted to give them something back .. people should have a licence to own an animal because of the abuse that far too many experience .. I would like to see pet shops minimize on animal stock like dogs and cats and for all people to think of an animal refuge first when looking to find a new cat or dog to add to their family .. in Cairns we have YAPS.
