If you would like to meet any of the dogs please complete the pre adoption questionnaire below their picture and submit along with a copy of your rates notice if you own or if renting a copy of your rental agreement stating you are allowed to have a pet/s Council Registration Cairns Regional Council annual Dog Registration begins each year on the 1st July and ends on the 30th June. Registration is compulsory and costs $49.00 to June 2026 If you live in the Cairns Regional Council area you must register your new dog at the time of adoption. Breed: American Staffy X Bull Arab About: Busta is currently the longest resident of YAPS, he’s been with us for over 12 months, and it’s believed he was in another shelter previously, unfortunately missing out on all his puppy training, however for the past few months Busta has been with foster carers which has seen him develop into the loving and playful young dog he’s desperate to be. Busta can still pull strongly on the lead, but since using a snout halti he walks gently. In the foster home he’s a big softy, sleeps inside, is really well house trained, he doesn’t bark and can be left alone once he’s sure that you will come back to him. He loves playing with toys and can keep himself amused, although when his people are home he’s like a shadow following you. He loves people and can be a little boisterous at first. In public he craves pats and a scratch and is non reactive to other dogs, and does not chase wildlife, but not tested with cats, he’s mixing with other friendly dogs really well with good recall to a whistle. He loves a good run at the beach and open fields, but this level of bonding takes a little while. Busta would suit an active couple or family that can give him the love and he desperately deserves, and he’ll love you unconditionally. Name: Kutter Breed: American Bull Dog x About: Kutter was a private surrender due to a housing situation. He came from a loving family with children and cats. Kutter was especially close with one of the cats and would often allow this cat to eat from his bowl! Breed: Staffy X About: Striker.. is a recent pound rescue, and this is what they had to say about him. Striker has a very relaxed attitude with life, although when he arrived at ACE he was very timid and scared and showed fear (we believe he hasn’t been exposed to much else other than his yard, and what he has been exposed to may not be positive).. Striker is a social superstar, there was no slow introduction necessary, he was so eager to have a play with our little Becca and we have tested him with a few dogs in care – where he is such a great dog with other dogs. Take some time to get to know this young boy and he will forever be your friend.
