For Your Adoption Fee Your Pet Will Be:

* Vet Checked * Vaccinated (1st vaccination     only for puppies) * Wormed * Desexed *   Microchipped
* Adult Dogs Heartworm tested

If the puppy is too young to be desexed, the appointment is made by YAPS and paid for before you leave with your new pet.

If you would like to meet any of the dogs please complete the pre adoption questionnaire below their picture and submit along with a copy of your rates notice if you own or if renting a copy of your rental agreement stating you are allowed to have a pet/s

Council Registration

Cairns Regional Council annual Dog Registration begins each year on the 1st July and ends on the 30th June.  Registration is compulsory and costs $24.50 to June 2026

If you live in the Cairns Regional Council area you must register your new dog at the time of adoption.

Hours for Animal Viewing

Please complete the pre adoption questionnaire with the names of the animal/s you are interested in meeting, once received we will set up a viewing time for you which will be between 10 am and 2 pm Monday to Sunday
We do have paper copies of the form in our office if you do not have access to a computer but you would have to bring a copy of your rates notice with you, if an owner or a rental agreement stating you are allowed animals, if renting
Due to noise complaints, we no longer have people walking through the shelter, we will bring the dogs up to meet you and this is why we need to set up appointment times.

About:  This girl is ready to rock and roll after spending 192 days in care while being treated for a massive heartworm burden…but she is now heartworm free and ready to get out there and take on the world.
Because of being under treatment and needing to be kept quiet we have not mixed her with other dogs so unsure how she is with them, although we were told that previously coming to Yaps where she was in a remote pound she was in with other dogs and was ok.

About:  Tilly arrived into care from a regional pound so we don’t have much background information on her, but she has shown to be a lovely girl here at the shelter.
Tilly loves going out on her daily walks and then spending time in the exercise yard with her mate Gromit, playing, doing zoomies or whatever comes to mind!!
We were told that Tilly can scale low fences so will need a standard 6 foot fence to keep her safe and secure.
