On behalf of all of us here at the Young Animal Protection Society Inc (YAPS), thank you for your interest in volunteering with us. We rely on our wonderful team of volunteers to ensure our four-legged friends receive the love and care they deserve.
Importantly, for the welfare of our beloved dogs and cats, and for your own personal safety and wellbeing, there are a number of strict criteria that our volunteers must be able to meet. Theses include;

Procedures are in place to ensure that our Volunteers enter and exit the kennels in an appropriate and controlled step-by-step manner.? Dog Walking:
To assist in providing our dogs with a consistent level of basic training and to ensure newcomers are aware of how to correctly handle our dogs, all volunteer dog walkers are required to undergo induction training. You will be sent a text or email to advise when available dates have come up for the interview/induction (at times we have a number of volunteer applications so there can be delays in hearing from us while we process everyone through.
Cats:
Assisting with feeding and cleaning enclosures.
Laundry and Washing Dog and Cat Bowls:
We can always use a hand to stay on top of the mountains of bedding and bowls used by our dogs and cats. Help? is required at all times in this area
Maintenance & Gardening:
If you are a qualified tradesperson, your skills would be invaluable in maintaining our ageing premises and we would be incredibly appreciative of your help and support.
